CCD CANCELLATIONS: Please remember to check the office phone (973-694-0787) whenever it is possible that CCD may be cancelled (weather conditions). PLEASE NOTE: THAT WHENEVER WAYNE SCHOOLS ARE CLOSED DURING THE DAY, DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS, JUNIOR HIGH CCD IS AUTOMATICALLY CANCELLED. |
The following Religious Education programs are offered for our youth:
Introduction to CCD - Pre-K (3,4,5 year olds) and Kindergarten
Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) - Grades 1 - 8
Sacrament Programs - First Eucharist, First Penance, Confirmation
Vacation Bible School - Grades 1 through 5
Because Religious Education is an ongoing process, there is the experience of development, and each year's experiences build upon a foundation established in previous years. Thus, the youth of our parish are expected to be enrolled in and regularly attend religious education classes from year to year beginning with Grade 1 through Grade 8 and into the Confirmation program.
Registering for Religious Education - families registering their children for CCD and the Sacrament programs must be registered parishioners of Annunciation, and newcomers to the parish wishing to do so are asked to contact the Parish Secretary.
Each year in the early spring all parish families are given the opportunity to register their children for the new school year beginning in September. At this time, enrollment is also begun for the two-week summer Vacation Bible School.
Mass Attendance - The purpose of Religious Education classes is to help the children grow in their understanding of their faith and it is hoped that this will lead them to a celebration of this faith at the Weekly Eucharist. It is expected that the children and their families be present and participate at the Sunday Liturgy. Not only is this a weekly obligation for Catholics, but it is one important way that we enter into the communal life of the parish. The 10:00 AM Sunday Mass is addressed to the parish children while remaining meaningful to their families.
